Feltham History Group AGM 2019 and April Meeting
The Chair observed the customary welcome and following his opening remarks commenced with proceedings pertaining to the AGM
As per our constitution the reports of those holding EC posts were read out by the officers so appointed; following the reports, which were proposed and seconded as being a true and representative account of the group’s activities and business for year 2018/19, the Chair dissolved the current committee. Election of Officers
Under the group’s constitution where there are no written or ‘from the floor’ nominations the acting Chair can offer to members an ‘en-bloc’ election of those willing to serve again; this was approved by all members their present, with the election of the following.

The Chair thanked all those who had agreed to stand as officers of the group and thanked all members present for their support and closed the AGM.
The chair then proceeded with conducting matters concerning the April meeting of 2019,
beginning with ‘Items of Interest’
There was but one item under this category that being a visit by American Students which generally centred around a project called “our Feltham” (full report available from James Marshall)
Under forthcoming events members were appraised of two talks that are arranged, the first for Saturday 27th April, entitled Ponds, Pubs and Power and will be presented by Angela Parton, Roger Cowing and Eddie Menday. The second is for Saturday 25th May and will be on the Rivers Brooks and Streams of our locality; this will be given by Alan Rice and Roger Cowing
Our annual visit to St Dunstan’s Church is on Saturday 22nd June and we shall be participating in a talk arranged at Christ Church on the Veitch Family of Growers and Seedsman, this is on Saturday 29th June at 2-30. Our participation is to compliment the talk with a display mainly pertaining to Bridge House Pond and Gardens but also pertinent ‘Farming and Market Gardening areas’ of Feltham.
As yet we have not had a request from St Mary’s Bedfont as to visit; as and when such request is received members will be made aware.
Additionally we are in the early stages of arranging short walks in July, August and September; with amongst the options is a walk around The Mills at East Bedfont/Feltham, or a Heritage Walk around Feltham Town (upper district), or a walk around ‘Feltham Hill’ - this is from Feltham Cemetery via Sunbury Road to The Running Horse PH to Grovelly Park and the Low Field area of Feltham taking in other ‘delights and surprises’ in our passage and returning to the cemetery via Chertsey Road. another option is a walk amongst Feltham folk of old , i.e. around Feltham Cemetery.
The short talk for the evening was on ‘Feltham Fields’ and in particular ‘Sector L’ this was given by Roger Cowing. (Click here for transcript of talk)
