The Chairman, following his greeting and opening remarks, spoke of an invitation to visit the UK Supreme Court, which is the old Middlesex Guildhall Westminster; the invite was for tours of the UK Supreme Court, he, the Chairman, had been some while back and found it very interesting and encouraged others to visit.
Prominent under ‘forthcoming events’ were the 2017 Library talks, the first of which being on Saturday 22nd April the theme being ‘Down Your Way’ it will have a similar format as the radio programme of old that some may remember – and will feature certain places around the area and those people that have lived there.
On Saturday 20th May the talk is entitled Artists and Literary figures of Feltham and the surrounding district.
On Saturday 1st July the history group will be at St Dunstan’s Summer Fete and in addition to the display there will be a talk and walk by members of the history group
Sunday 6th August is the date set for Bedfont Lakes Country Fair – this will be the second fair following a lengthy absence.
The Chaoirman continued with information on an event that is in its early planning stages which centres around ‘100 year commemoration of flying at Hanworth/Feltham Aerodrome’ – this will feature a display at The Riverside Church Airpark Way and Guided Walk around the Airpark. Other features are planned but as yet have not been finalised
The short talk for the evening was given by James Marshall Hounslow’s Local Studies Officer; the content of the talk was on certain documents and images recently donated to Hounslow Local Studies and was on the Whiteaway’s of Feltham, ‘London and the World’
